Barb Iverson Skate Plaza

Sioux Falls, SD

Honoring a beloved middle school teacher of thirty years, the Barb Iverson Skate Plaza at Nelson Park in Sioux Falls is a 20,000 sqft state-of-the-art all-wheel park that carries on Ms. Iverson’s legacy of advocacy, community building, and compassion. Designed to be accessible and inclusive for all wheel type users, the Barb Iverson Skate Plaza ranks among the largest in the country and features a variety of terrain suitable for beginners to advanced riders with a street plaza lane, transition and flow bowl area, a rock terrace feature, stairs and rails. Promoting physical activity and fostering a sense of community, this design-build skate plaza project came to fruition in partnership with local advocacy group Let’s Skate, formerly the Sioux Falls Skatepark Association, and reflects Ms. Iverson’s heart for sparking interest and imagination, along with the promotion of learning and growth in safe spaces.
