New Line Skateparks is an internationally renowned full-service municipal skatepark design and construction team.  As industry pioneers with over 300 highly recognized projects and 18 + years of concrete skatepark development experience, we offer a signature brand of design-build expertise focused on creating integrated skatepark environments that create a meaningful connection between youth and the communities in which they live.

The New Line Foundation

We believe in the power of skateboarding to enact social change and improve the lives youth and marginalized populations across the world.  Our team has been privileged to turn our passion into a sustainable livelihood and GIVING BACK is a foundational part of who we are and what we value.  We are honoured to provide ongoing financial support and donated Design-Build services to a number of incredible not-for-profit organizations who are permanently committed to changing the lives of youth and the young at heart through skateboarding related education, mental and physical therapy, and community development.

Job Opportunities

Designer / Coordinator – Langley, BC Office

Summary: Skatepark Designers are responsible for the successful delivery of skatepark and landscape design projects. This includes management of clients (internal and external); concept and technical design development; quality and cost control of projects and supporting construction implementation.

Criteria

Knowledge & Skill: Proficient in AutoCAD, 3D Civil, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign), Microsoft Excel and Word

Experience: Minimum 2 years of industry related experience (Landscape Architecture or Civil Design).  Portfolio of work strongly recommended

Education: Industry based degree (eg. Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, Architecture or similar, Civil Engineering Degree or Diploma)

Specific responsibilities

Client Management

  • Ensure our clients are being well managed (open, clear and frequent communication)
  • Internally – collaboration with other departments, sub-consultants, sub-contractors, partners
  • Externally -management of the actual client, other stakeholders

Design Development

  • Base data collection, review and base map development
  • Graphic preparation and support for public consultation process
  • Concept design progression, modeling and graphic development
  • Detailed design, engineering and working drawing development
  • Preparation of technical specifications

Quality and Cost Control

  • Project time management
  • Quantity surveying
  • Estimating and pricing support
  • Manage projects according to NLS quality control systems (checklists, reporting structure, etc.)
  • Participate in the ongoing development and continuous improvements of NLS’s design processes and systems

Contract Administration

  • Tender/bid process management
  • Manage change orders, RFI’s, etc.
  • Site reviews, progress meetings when necessary

Construction Support

  • Production of Shop Drawings
  • Total station data creation and output
  • Construction Team support as needed

Preferred Candidates will have experience in:

  • Previous Skatepark Design or Industry related Drafting Experience
  • Social and advocacy involvement in the Skateboarding Community
  • Demonstrated creativity and adept in problem solving
