With nearly 13,000 square feet of custom concrete ledges, rails, stairs, hips, banks, gaps, and a boomerang shaped bowl, the new Lacombe Skatepark is sure to impress action sports enthusiasts and spectators alike. The state of the art facility’s custom design was inspired by famous urban plazas from across the globe while also including a collection of ‘must-have’ traditional skatepark elements. Two unique features that will create a signature for the park are the ‘Flat-IronBuilding’ manual pad and ‘Blacksmith Shop’ horseshoe-shaped mini bowl. Both obstacles pay homage to Lacombe’s history while serving as marquee features for park users. The park is a great addition to scenic Michener Park's campground and various sports fields. Initial feedback on the design has been overwhelmingly positive. When the final 3D model of the park was unveiled on September 21st, the words “It’s perfect!” were echoed by many in attendance.
The park is located within Michener Park, just off 50th Ave (Highway 12) at the east side of town.
